TOUGH FIGHTING WIN FROM BANCROFT

"A really tough fighting win from Bancroft yesterday at Casino overcoming a little adversity to score by a very small margin. You can’t knock how hard Bangers tries and he always put’s in 110%." Mitch Lowe. Race 9 - 3:55PM CMW ACCOUNTANTS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (1200 METRES) Terrific effort to overcome the wide gate and large space between runs to fight off the challenges. Bangers began well and crossed from the wide gate to lead relatively easily. Everything looked to be going to plan until Marked Forever took off and went a little crazy outside Bangers to take the lead. Young Nothdurft wasn’t fazed and let him slip by to take a trail running second. Approaching the straight he peel off Market Forever's back and worked to the lead, finding the right part of the track. He rode Bangers out as strongly as possible and we were probably headed by favourite Academy Hill at the 200 meters, however Bangers kicked on strongly to get up on the line. Baylee Nothdurft (Jockey) Gee his a tough bugger – he just kept kicking for me when I thought we got collared. He was there to be beaten in the straight but they just couldn’t get past me. Don’t worry about the protest we won by a length and a half (settle down Baylee!!). Thanks for the opportunity to ride the horse and I’d love to be on him again next start?? Matt Dunn (Trainer)

It was a long 20 minutes after the race where we had to survive a protest from runner up Academy Hill, however Bangers won the race fair and square with the favourite sitting on our back the whole way and having the opportunity to beat us. The horses got close in the staright (maybe brushed), however rider of Academy Hill never stopped ridding. Credit to young Baylee Nothdurft. Without the apprentice claim (2 kgs) we would not have won the race. He looks to be a jockey on the rise with another 3 rides yesterday for 3 winners. Most pleasing thing is the way he carries himself professionally and listens to instructions. I believe apprentices lose you more races than they win for you, however we might try and keep a hold of young Baylee if possible. Well done to all owners. After a few indifferent runs at Gold Coast and a stop/start preparation it’s great to get another winner with Bancroft. He looks to have pulled up well this morning and we will assess his progress over the next few days before setting our sights on his next race.
